The two motors that were damaged by a thunderstorm on the 27th of March 2026 have been removed and are with the supplier for repairs. It is anticipated that one of these motors will be back tomorrow morning, 31 March 2026, for installation and for all operational readiness tests to be conducted before the pump set is put into operation.
As a result of the storm damage, the supply of water to the areas of Howick, Howick West, Mpophomeni, Hilton, Vulindlela, Mshwathi, Montebello and Ozwatini was disrupted.
The standby motor was installed but failed during commissioning due to another surge caused by power imbalance. This repair is also already in progress.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
