The raw water supply to the Nomlacu Water Treatment Works was interrupted earlier today, 9 December 2024 by the failure of backup generators that supply power to the Ludeke Dam Raw Water Pump Station. This resulted in water supply disruptions to parts of Mbizana.
The failed backup generators are an interim measure after the electrical transformer to the Ludeke Dam Raw Water Pump Station was removed for repairs. It is expected to be reinstalled next weekend.
uMngeni-uThukela Water has deployed resources to attend to the generators. We will provide updates on the status of the repairs.
